RV Adventure 2009! Day Eighteen!

Monday, September 7th

Relaxed today with Marsha and Larry.  Around 3:00 headed over to Moms for a picnic with family and friends.  When we got there, Mark was beating great-grandma at a game of memory (ALMOST 5 year old, vs 89 year old! HA!)
We sang happy (early) birthday to Mark and Eric, and everyone hung out and had a nice time.  At one point, my grandma was holding Ryan and he was crying and grandpa leans over to talk to him and he stops crying (only to start back up again a minute later of course, but) it was such a sweet moment!
The boys decided (after much back and forth) to spend their last night at grandma's (apparently the boy enjoyed eating breakfast outside and mark claims she makes great oatmeal!)

Tuesday we had lunch with Marsha and Larry after mom came by with the boys, then we pulled out around 2:30 and headed home.  It was a WONDERFUL trip, nice quality time with the boys, they are already asking when the next RV trip will be!

SUCH a sweet picture!!!

RV Adventure 2009! Day Seventeen!

Sunday, September 6th

Mom brought the boys over and we all left in the RV for downtown Sacramento to the railroad museum.  They were having "gold rush days" so old town was "dressed up" as it was in the gold rush with dirt roads and horse carriages, we even heard some gun fights!

Back at Marsha and Larry's for dinner and roasted marshmallows for desert - yum! The boys wanted to spend another night at Grandmas.

RV Adventure 2009! Day Sixteen!

Saturday, September 5th

Left Live Oak, Destination: Folsom/Citrus Heights

Late morning Neil and I took most of the kids to the Park.  That afternoon we all went bowling.  It was our boys first time, they LOVED it!  Eric called it "ween baw" (translation: green ball) because of his yellowish-green ball. He'd get very excited when it was his turn and he'd dance up to the lane and get ready!
Mark rolled 3 strikes! and though we did bumper bowling, one of them was a legitimate strike as it rolled straight down the lane!  After bowling we said goodbye to Scots family and we drove to meet Grandma for fish and chips in Auburn.
After dinner we dropped off Mark and Jake for their first sleep over (sniff) at Grandma's house. We then proceded to Marsha and Larry's (I grew up down the street from them and spent ALMOST as much time at their house with their daughter Brittany, as I did my own!) to "plug in".

RV Adventure 2009! Day Fifteen!

 Friday, September 4th

Brandy, Ashlyn and Ryan had school today so the boys played with their toys.  Around 12:00 Christina picked up Brandy from school early and we took her to Sunsweet Farms for a tour.  We all donned our hair nets, hard hats, and lab coats and Neil drove us around in a golf cart while Harold (who Neil knows through work) took us through the processing and packaging plants, storage facilities (HUGE) and we got to see them sort prunes, package Sobe juice as well as a LOT of fork lifts!  It was a LOT of fun!

When we got back all the kids rode bikes and played outside.

RV Adventure 2009! Day Fourteen!

Thursday, September 3rd

Left Clear Lake, Destination: Live Oak

Took a boat out on the lake today, it's not smelly out on the lake, though still green.  We all got to drive (except for Ryan) and Mark, Jake and Eric went fishing.  They didn't catch anything, though Mark would get excited every time he saw his little green "bait fish", thinking he'd caught something.  Eric took a nap on the boat, while we were driving it around the lake! HA!

Then we drove to Scots house in Live Oak.  The kids all had fun playing with their cousins till around 10:30 when we all went back to the RV for bed

RV Adventure 2009! Day Thirteen!

Wednesday, September 2nd

Left Richardson Grove, Destination: Clear Lake

Neil had a phone-in meeting this morning so I took the boys for a walk. We walked around the campground talking about the redwood trees.
We got to "clear lake" that was actually GREEN and SMELLY!! YIKES! so we went for a swim at the pool and decided to stay just the one night instead of the planned two. The boys had fun at the pool. Daddy got to play lifeguard again when Jake fell in after learning why we don't run at the pool, though he was doing a good job of trying to get to the side of the pool again.

RV Adventure 2009! Day Twelve!

Tuesday, September 1st

Left Mackerricher State Park, Destination: Richardson Grove State Park

Drove up the coast a bit, then said goodbye to the ocean.  A VERY windy road took us inland.  Jake wasn't feeling too well and ended up getting car sick about 3 miles before we reached the 101.  Stopped in Leggitt to see the "drive through tree" as well as let Jake get some fresh air and walk around.

We go the to the campground - our site was HUGE!! with a hill leading to a hollow redwood.  The boys had fun climbing the "root stairs" up to the tree and standing inside.
We used a construction cone as a batting tee and played some baseball, and the boys found a frisbee with smokey the bear on it.  After awhile playing outside, the mosquitos started getting pretty bad so we went inside.  We taught Mark how to play "crazy 8's", then we all played memory.
